Welcome to Courtside

My name is Andy and more often than not I'm to be found courtside watching my son Elijah playing the sport he loves; tennis. It's this weekly pilgrimage, coffee in hand, which led me to create the Courtside Podcast.

Courtside is a series of conversations exploring the journey sport-parents go on as we support our children in the sport they love.

Through Courtside you’ll hear from Players, Parents, Coaches and experts in the fields of sports science and adolescent development in order that as Courtside Parents we can create a positive courtside environment, meaning that our children flourish through the culture we create around the sport that they love.

So, how's your courtside culture?

The Spirit of Courtside:

Courtside reflects the journey our family is on. Elijah is a bright and sparky 11 year old, someone who, when on a tennis court comes ALIVE. The court is his home, it’s where he feels comfortable and tennis is the sport which has a profound impact on his confidence and overall wellbeing as well as developing an impressive forehand.

Over the past 25 years, my wife and I have devoted our lives to supporting child development and wellbeing and we’ve observed through our son’s love of tennis, the nurturing impact it has on a young person’s body, mind and soul.

We believe that deep down parents dream bigger dreams for their children than simply winning matches and trophies. Parents dream dreams of their children being ALIVE and for millions of young people sport is the context where ALIVENESS is realized.

We also believe that for hundreds of thousands of young people sport is more than simply a hobby. It’s the setting where they can fully express themselves, it isn’t simply a game it’s a place where they can truly be themselves.

Courtside is, therefore, a series of conversations seeking to; foster a courtside movement which enables our children to grow and develop through the sport which brings them ALIVE?”
