Welcome to Courtside

My name is Andy and more often than not I'm to be found courtside watching my son Elijah playing the sport he loves; tennis. It's this weekly pilgrimage, coffee in hand, which led me to create the Courtside Podcast.

Courtside is a series of conversations exploring the journey sport-parents go on as we support our children in the sport they love.

Through Courtside you’ll hear from Players, Parents, Coaches and experts in the fields of sports science and adolescent development in order that as Courtside Parents we can create a positive courtside environment, meaning that our children flourish through the culture we create around the sport that they love.

So, how's your courtside culture?

Sarah Borwell of Tennis Smart joins us to explore pathways in Tennis for aspiring young players.

Tennis Smart has been created by Sarah who is a former British No.1 in doubles and who attended the University of Houston before forging a successful career on the WTA Tour. Tennis Smart players can benefit from Sarah’s help and support from the age of 10, all the way through to making the transition from college tennis to the pros.

The question so many parents ask is; "What options are available for my son and or daughter?" The tour? Or the Collegiate System?

In this episode, we'll be looking at

  1. Growing into their game
  2. Finding the right journey for your daughter or son
  3. Matching the right college for both their personality and a playing level.
  4. Supporting the transition on from being a college athlete into the professional world of player or ... well there are many more doors than you might imagine

We hope you enjoy this episode and if you want to connect with Sarah and Tennis Smart to explore the pathways open to you; then here are the links:
